Fall Youth Theatre Classes
featuring A Year With Frog and Toad -
September 13th to December 16th

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN ACT?

YOUTH THEATRE FALL SESSION
September 13 – December 16

No Class on the following weeks:

October 11- 15
November 15 – 26

Building character for lifelong performance.

The Egyptian Theatre in partnership with University of Utah’s Youth Theatre introduces young people ages 5—18 to the exciting world of theatre. Our aim in these classes is to build on students' past experience and give them a deeper knowledge of themselves. By exploring the world of drama, students learn to work with others, to understand and express their feelings, and to appreciate how discipline goes hand in hand with creativity.

YT Academy (Grades 2 – 5) A class for students who want to perform! Focus on fundamentals of acting-stage movement-character development and motivation while rehearsing a play specifically created for young performers. Students must be comfortable with the memorization of lines. The fall musical is The Big Bad Musical! The notorious Big Bad Wolf is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybooks of quirky characters who want to get even:  Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.  With Sydney Grimm as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — clash in a trial that will be remembered forever after.  As our wronged fairy tale characters testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming.  Yet, even though the infamous Evil Stepmother resents doing pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself.  Was he born a criminal, or made one?

YT Ensemble (Grades 5 - 8) A class for students who want to perform! Students will learn valuable techniques for stage acting; using voice, body and mind to pursue objectives, overcome obstacles, create characters and scenes, and work as an ensemble. Students will also expand their performance skills and develop vocal and dance techniques as they practice scenes and musical numbers from hit shows! This fall students will be working on numbers from the musical A Year With Frog And Toad. This musical follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special. Students will be integrated into the Fall Production of this show.
