Youtheatre Info

ETC's Youtheatre program is dedicated to helping young people learn and grow as performers, creators, and audience members. From the teamwork of being part of a cast to the discipline of mastering lines and the self-esteem garnered from performing on stage, we work hard to instill in all young people an appreciation for the performing arts that can be carried with them into adulthood.

To ensure accessibility to all children we offer financial aid and scholarship programs we target young people who might not get a chance to participate in the arts otherwise. All who are inspired by our theatre, onstage or as part of the audience, leave with an enthusiasm to be a success on whatever stage they choose to perform! Our program consists of a Fall and Spring semester as well as camps in the Summer. For information call the Youtheatre Department at 435-649-9371.

Program History

In 1996, Egyptian Theatre Company began it's Youtheatre program as a summer camp with 25 students. Eight years later, enrollment has grown to more than 500 students annually in both after-school and summer classes.

Youtheatre is funded by donations from the FirstNighter Patrons and community sponsors. All gifts are greatly appreciated, from used boom-boxes, to costumes and props from your closet, to storage boxes, to cash.

Whether your child is a beginner or a seasoned performer, ETC's Youtheatre program has something for everyone!

Program Director

Jane Talley [Director for Footloose/ETC Education Director]
Jane came to the Egyptian Theatre with a strong education background in theatre. She earned a BS degree with a double major in Speech and Theatre from Southern Illinois University and a MA degree in Theatre with an emphasis in Directing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her teaching experience spans 25 years and 3 states (Illinois, California and Nevada). In Las Vegas she taught theatre, produced and directed four productions a year for 12 years, served as Fine Arts Chair at Bishop Gorman High School, and held the office of Nevada State Thespian Director for two years. She also taught in the Honors College in the summer at UNLV. As a teacher in California, Jane was the Southern California vice president for high school theatre and served on the Southern California Educational Theatre Association Board. She has produced and directed over 60 plays and musicals as well as starting a theatre company in Illinois (Performing Arts Community Theatre). She has acted, danced and did a stint on TV hosting a children’s show and doing commercials on channel 13 in Rockford, Illinois. Her favorite role was “Juliet” in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Her passion for “good” theatre is boundless, and she loves the energy, enthusiasm and raw courage that only young actors can bring to the stage. She also loves Park City and the quaint, historical Egyptian Theatre on Main Street.
